Our
first group trip was a light run out to chicken
corners. The heavy rains made the second
trail Kane creek unrunnable so some stayed
and explored the catacombs while some went
over to Fin's and Things and played.
Thursday we had 11 members
and ran Porcupine rim trail and after a lunch
on top of the rim we headed over to Seven
mile rim or Monitor and Merrimac trail. Several
of the group tried wipe out hill, all three
made it look way too easy.
Friday
we had our first official run with 14 club
members and we decided to do a little Tip
toeing behind the rocks and a run over to
Prichet Arch. We had one little delay to
repair a broken radiator hose before having
lunch at Prichet arch.
Friday
evening we had our club dinner and thanks
to John and Jolene Parker for that wonderful
dinner.
Saturday
we lined up for a trip over to Metal Masher
trail.
With
the largest group we tried our luck. With
a stop off near Rock Chucker Hill for those
wishing to play. Bruce tried it first but
was denied.
With
comments of a little more lift and...next
year I will!
Our
Groom to be Jeremy Smart had to give it a
go.
With
the smell of burring rubber and tortured
metal Jeremy got up.
Onward
and upward we went to the top of the trail
without any problems till the flat fender
had to have a trail side tire change.
With
our club knowledge of trail side repairs
Bruce showed all of us younger crowd how
to pull a tire off a rim and put it back
on with little to no tools.
We only did one trail that
day for Jeremy Smart and Shelly McEwen decided
to tie the knot. Congrat Jeremy...our condolences
Shelly.
Sunday
with most of the group heading home a few
more adventurist of us
headed over to Hell's revenge to get our
last taste of slick rock.
The
cool day and the lack of crowds made the
trail fun, with our chance meeting of legendary
Dan Mick who led us over the last part of
the trail made the day allot more memorable.
